William Ruto has been serving as Kenya’s Deputy President since 2013 after Jubilee Alliance clinched power.
He first ran for a political seat in 1997 where he was elected as the MP for Eldoret North, beating the incumbent Robert Chesire.
The second in command also held several ministerial positions in the cabinet between 2002-2007 including Minister of Home Affairs, Agriculture, and Higher Education Science and Technology. He is also a Dr. after successfully graduating with a PhD from the University of Nairobi in 2018.
Aside from a successful career, Ruto is also a family man. According to his biography, Ruto married his wife Rachel in 1991 and together they have six children namely Nick, June, Charlene, Stephanie, George, Nadia Cherop and Abby Ruto whom he got out of marriage with another woman.
Today we have a look at his daughter Charlene. She is also known as Chelagat and is the second born-daughter and the third child of the Deputy President.
Charlene keeps her life private. She however attained her Undergraduate degree at Daystar University whereby she graduated with a degree in Communication in 2015.
She later proceeded to Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland where she graduated with an MBA.
Currently, she works as a director at DP Ruto’s Weston Hotel. She is in charge of branding and public relations.
Before joining the family business, Charlene worked as a PR and media relations officer at Mobile Decisioning Holding Limited for a period of two years.
On Sunday, she surprised Kenyans after making a public appearance on a campaign trail for Kasarani parliamentary seat UDA aspirant Mike Sagana. Charlene publicly endorsed Sagana as her preferred candidate for the position.
