Former energy cabinet secretary Charles Keter is facing it rough from Dr. Mutai Erick Kipkoech in Kericho county and is wishing that he never resigned from president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
Faced with a strong opponent Dr. Mutai Erick Kipkoech, Charles Keter is not having peace on the ground as residents have vowed to stand by Mr. Mutai who had been with them since time immemorial.
In fact, Kericho residents on Saturday went a notch higher to demonstrate how serious they were with Mutai Erick Kipkoech when they literally gave handouts to him and not the other way round.
According to sources, these locals were previously given handouts by Charles Keter but they kept the same and handed over to their fellow hustler Mr. Mutai. Keter who is eyeing the Kericho seat is said to be splashing money in the region and its amazing how the locals are now keeping some of that to give to his staunch opponent.
A video seen by Sonko News showed Kericho locals in Litein held an impromptu fundraiser to assist their governor candidate of choice Dr. Mutai to fuel his campaign vehicles and pay his campaign staff, something which left him literally crying in bewilderment.
That was a rare case of shoe being on the other foot where locals are giving handouts to their leader and rejecting the corrupt billionaires whom they believe are not suitable to lead them.
After being given handouts, Mr. Mutai said that he was humbled by the act as he vowed to address challenges facing Kericho residents if he is elected in office.

“A sea of humanity turned up in Litein town to welcome and engage us this evening. I was truly humbled and blessed by the hustlers who spontaneously fundraised to finance my campaign. IÂ articulated my Vision to address the water challenges, upgrade our trading centre infrastructure, support MSMEs and spur our rural economy among other priorities. Kongoi missing bikyok.” He said.
Mutai Erick Kipkoech and former energy cabinet secretary Charles keter will square it out in the looming United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries.
