Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici is cursing the day she sold her expensive house just to please deputy president William Ruto.
Wangui Ngirici while speaking on Saturday in Kiamanyeki, Mwea constituency opened up that she regrets introducing UDA in the region using her investments.
She revealed that her husband Andrew Ngirici sold their house worth millions of Kenya shillings with the aim of populatrizing William Ruto’s new party only to end up being betrayed after the deputy president chose Ann Waiguru over her.
Wangui Ngirici who left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to contest as an independent candidate in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race further disclosed that she had to foregore key committees for standing with Ruto.
Specifically, she recalled being chased away from being the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) chairperson and various committees in the National Assembly for supporting the Deputy President who would later betray her.
“I sacrificed a lot for the UDA party but I was later shortchanged. Mambo ya kuchagua chama tuwache, let us think about individuals who will represent our interests.” She said.
The female money bag will be facing off with a number of candidates in the Kirinyaga race. They include NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua, first Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi (TSP), incumbent senator Charles Kibiru and the current Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.
Wangui Ngirici while welcoming Waiguru to Ruto’s side noted that she made major contributions to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) more than the governor who had been backing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
She went ahead to castigate Waiguru for being an opportunist who only crossed to William Ruto’s side after the courts annulled the Building Bridges initiative.
“I popularized the UDA Party in Kirinyaga County. I convinced my people that UDA was the political outfit to join, and that Ruto was the man best-suited to take over from [President] Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. I also made them see the gaps in BBI, which was being championed by the President’s team,” she said.
“During that time, Waiguru was on the other side opposing Ruto, claiming that the DP had rented members of the Kikuyu community. She was also at the forefront popularizing BBI across Kenya,” said Ngirici, adding: “When her [BBI] mission failed, she crossed over to UDA.”
