Two NASA MPs risk expulsion after associations with DP Ruto

Date:

National Super Alliance (NASA) MPs South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and his Bomachoge Chache Counterpart Alpha Miruka are facing expulsion from their party, over disloyalty and association with Deputy President William Ruto.

A report by the Standard on Monday, June 1, detailed that KNC Pary leader Manson Nyamweya met the two MPs at his Karen Nairobi home and read them the riot act, warning that the party will not hesitate to expel them if they fail to respect party positions.
“KNC is a member of NASA coalition that supported Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the 2017 General Election.

“Our position has not changed to date, therefore it is wrong for our MPs to support DP Ruto,” Nyamweya was quoted.

Osoro was among seven NASA legislators who were expelled from Parliamentary House Committees on Wednesday, May 27.
In September 2019, his party, KNC attampted to expel him, by writing to the Registrar of Political Parties to deregister him from over alleged failure to comply with the party’s regulation.

Osoro’s looming expulsion also came moments after NASA co-principal Raila Odinga was accused of meddling in the affairs of other NASA parties, by trying to force them into a merger with Jubilee.

On Sunday, May 31, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi accused Odinga of involvement in a plot that saw Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula ejected as Ford Kenya Party Leader.

ODM, however, dismissed the claims by Mudavadi, accusing him of masterminding nearly every political fallout in Kenya’s politics.

“Our attention has been caught by his reference to “the leader of a NASA party” as being behind the changes that have been carried out in a party that should neither concern us nor him. It is a poorly disguised attempt to once again lay blame on ODM and its leader for for Mudavadi and his friends shortcomings.

“Mudavadi should desist from seeing the ghost of ODM everywhere. It is ODMs stated policy not to interfere in the internal workings of other political parties. We do not pretend to know the issues within Ford Kenya that have occasioned the changes, but unlike Mudavadi, we will let Ford Kenya members exercise their right to choose their leadership,” ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna stated.
