Ex MP John Serut Burial Brought To A Standstill As Kenya Kwanza, Azimio Leaders Clash

Date:

The funeral service of former Mt. Elgon MP  John Serut that was being held at Kapsokwony Boys Highschool was brought to a standstill after chaos erupted.

According to videos shared on social media, a group of youths could be seen engaging in a heated argument as the clergy watched helplessly.

It is unclear what the cause of the chaos was, but Serut’s widow, Pamela Serut, said that they had received information that a group of people had planned to interrupt the burial proceeding.

“Am embarrassed by such a behavior, we had been informed about it yesterday that people had been bought. Why do you people make yourselves so cheap? As a family we are mourning but you are running for the little money. Why do you want to injure people? It is very embarrassing,” she said.

Other sources however claim that the violence was witnessed after Kenya Kwanza leaders clashed with those from Azimio. A few of notable leader present included Ford Kenya leader who is also the senator of Bungoma county Moses Wetang’ula, Kimili MP Didmus Barasa among others

It is however claimed that Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati had to flee the funeral after his supporters attempted to disrupt the burial, though the reports can not be confirmed.

“Bungoma Governor Wangamati forced to flee from former Mt Elgon MP John serut funeral after his supporters unsuccessfully tried to disrupt the burial,” read a tweet by Daisy K.
