Deputy President William Ruto caused a buzz among Kenyans when he complained of plans to rig elections while in the US.
The second in command has been criticized and his opponents say that he is panicking because he is already sensing defeat in the polls slated for August 9, 2022.
“Political tide has caused panic among our competitors. Our presidential candidate Raila Odinga is cruising to the presidency, you can read the signs.
“What he(Ruto) said is curious, I think he is setting the stage to dispute the August 9th elections. The same man has previously told us that even if Raila’s brother Oburu Odinga was the IEBC chairman, he would still win the polls,” Suba South MP and the minority leader in parliament John Mbadi said.
DP Ruto had called upon the global community to help is ensuring that there is no rigging in the coming general elections
It has however emerged that the same DP Ruto who criticized Raila for travelling to the US back in 2017 is now the one who is running to the Americans for help.
Raila visited US in November 2017 and had a meeting with members of the congress to push for electoral reforms in the country.
Raila said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto were planning to overstay in power.
At the time, Ruto took the opportunity to bash the former prime minister saying that he was trying to block him from becoming the head of state in 2022.
“So, Tinga went all the way to the USA to seek support to scuttle the possibility of a son of peasant from being elected prezo in 2022!Balaa” DP Ruto shares on his Twitter.
