Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has joined the list of those who have slammed DP William Ruto over his vote rigging claims.
DP Ruto caused an uproar over his claims that there are plans to rig in the August elections while on his trip in the US.
Ruto called upon the global community to intervene and stop any attempts to rig elections slated for August 9 and further said that democracy of the country is under trial.
“There is a huge pushback by citizens against any attempts to choreograph the next dispensation. We want to make our choices without being chaperoned, blackmailed or intimidated,” he said.
Responding to Ruto’s concerns during the Azimio la umoja rally in Nyamira, Governor Joho told Ruto that he can go on meeting with Americans but votes are on the ground right here in Kenya.
“Kura Haipigwi kwa meza, unaeza ongea Kizungu yote ukutane na wazungu wote Kura haipigwi kwa meza. Kura inapigwa hapa.(Voting is not done on the tables, you can speak all the English and meet all the Americans but voting is not done on the table),” Joho said.
According to Joho, the Azimio team has made Ruto panic until he has been forced to run to the Americans for help.
“Baina ya Raila Amollo Odinga na William Ruto ni Usiku na mchana, wakati tulianza kampeni niliambia William Ruto utaheshimu baba akaona kama mzaha mzaha. Tumemfinya mpaka ameenda kushtaki kwa wazungu sasa.(Between Raila and Ruto is like day and night. When we started I told William Ruto that he will respect Raila. We have pressed him until he has gone to report us to the Americans),” Joho said.
From the US, Ruto will be heading to the United Kingdom and thereafter Qatar before returning to the country.
