“Campaigns Hadi Saa Sita Usiku” Raila Odinga’s Midnight Promise To Kenyans Receives A Backlash

Date:

The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga received a backlash on Sunday Midnight after  making a promise  to Kenyan football fans

Raila had taken to his Twitter account to congratulate Senegal for claiming the Afcon title for the first time in history after beating Egypt 4-2 in the penalties.

“Congratulations Senegal on winning #AFCON2021,” Raila dsaid.

He went on to promise that he will ensure that Kenya’s Harambee Stars will qualify for the next Afcon championships under his administration.

“I promise the legion of Kenyan soccer fans that under my administration Harambee stars will be at the next #Afcon. We’ll invest in football starting with grassroots/mtaani and community clubs. #Inawezekana,” Raila assured Kenyans.

Anti-Raila fans however took the opportunity to criticize him with some saying that he will face what Egypt went through in the Afcon finals after the August 9 elections.

“Egypt wamenyoroshwa vile Ruto atakufanyia pale August,” Morgan Ke resoonded to Raila’s post.

“@RailaOdingahas been sleeeping in all the meetings amusha yeye kwanza,” Matelong said.

While Inno Boy said, “Campaign hadi saa sita usiku.” as others told him to go to bed since it was late.

A section of his supporters were however confident that Raila will claim the presidency after the elections just like Senegal did.

“The same way this gentleman has been persistent despite previous defeats and finally won is the same way Baba will win in August after years of persistence!” Vimcent Agutu said.

“Inawezekana. Baba let your love for Football prospel our Kenyan Football,” Alex Ngare commented.

The Afcon2021 championships finals were played at the  Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, and after 120 minutes of playtime, neither Senegal nor Egypt managed to score a goal. During the normal playtime, Senegal’s Sadio Mane missed to score in a penalty.
