Reports reaching Sonko News desk is that all is not well for the Malindi member of parliament Aisha Jumwa in William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
According to a highly reliable source, Aisha Jumwa is not a happy woman and is quickly reconsidering her political stand in the hustler nation.
The source added that the vibrant legislator has been reluctant to attack Azimio La Umoja in Kilifi, something which has seen UDA topbrass perceive her as not loyal enough. Sources familiar with the happenings narrated that Aisha Jumwa is not interested in being an attack dog on behalf of Ruto’s team. This is because she will be digging her own political grave.
Being an ODM region, it seems Aisha Jumwa is not ready to sacrifice her political ambitions by joining Team Ruto in their evil schemes of abusing Raila Odinga and rubbishing the Azimio la umoja because Azimio is more popular in Malindi.
To further give a hint on her next move, the member of parliament on Friday revealed that she was missing Ruto’s many rallies because she is in the process of listening to the ground in a bid to chat her political future.
“I’ve been missing in UDA rallies because I’m busy on the Ground working and listening to my People. They are my bosses, if the say today Aisha turn left, i will turn left, if they say i turn right, i will turn right!” She said.
In kenya, listening to the ground is normally equated as the safest way to damp one particular political party in favor of the most popular one. Just recently, Kirinyaga governor Ann waiguru told Kenyans that she was listening to the ground before deciding on where to go.
Fast-forward, the Kirinyaga governor dumped Jubilee party and is now one of the most serious flower girls in William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Waiguru came to UDA with everything in her to the extent of driving out Kirinyaga woman rep Purity Ngirici.
In the meantime, this is what Kenyans said about Aisha Jumwa’s latest sentiments of listening to the ground:
“She only wants to misuse Baba by securing her seat and going back to wheelbarrow.reject her.”
“No not for that reason juzi alisomewa Sana kwao akaonywa mambo ya kutusi raila akome na akaambiwa chama ni azimio pekee”
“Maji imezidi unga kotini and that’s when she remembers Joshua is the only saviour.”
“Aende acheze mbali…..na venye amekua akitutusia baba. Kwani there’s no space 4 her in Ufisadi Daima Alliance ama nn mbaya na yy”
“Aisha Jumwa has hinted coming back to ODM party. The wave is too heavy for her at the ground to withstand.Welcome back”
“No not for that reason juzi alisomewa Sana kwao akaonywa mambo ya kutusi raila akome na akaambiwa chama ni azimio pekee”
“This is the main reason why mama kiuno Aisha Jumwa want to return to ODM though she has not resign but she want to start walking together with ODM members,
1: because of the political amendment bill 2021 which was sighn by the president yesterday, if tangatanga members does not run to court to challenge the bill, this bill will start working on February 9th and anyone who want to vie with a different party must resign as an MP or senator to seek afresh election and remember election also is on 9th august, there will be no by election before 9th august, so for Aisha Jumwa to remained relevant in politics she must remained in ODM party. This is the reason why Aisha Jumwa want to come back to ODM the ground is not on her side WANAPANGWA”
In the meantime, the Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa divorced her fisherman ex husband and later eloped with her Luo bodyguard-cum-driver Geoffrey Okuto Otieno whom she cohabited with for six long years.
The controversial lawmaker vehemently refuted claims that she left her fisherman ex husband after she secured a well paying job.
Speaking during an interview on NTV, Jumwa said that it was so unfortunate that most Kenyans often judge people wrongly.
The Malindi MP explained that the main reason why her fisherman ex husband and her parted ways was because he didn’t approve of her decision to join politics.
“It’s so wrong for most people to think like this. I don’t understand, I didn’t have a job and he had one but the main reason why I left him is because after I got into politics, he told me that he couldn’t stay with a woman who is into politics and for this reason, he gave me an option to choose between him or my career, you know what I chose”, Aisha Jumwa said.
The firebrand Malindi MP further reiterated that she still doesn’t have a husband and that she is not answerable to any man.
Jumwa however didn’t speak on her relationship with ex boyfriend Geoffrey Okuto Otieno. Their affair was exposed after they were both charged with murder.
The Malindi MP and her lover were charged with murder on October 22nd 2020 over the death of Ngumbao Jola who was killed in chaos that ensued during campaigns for a by-election in Ganda Ward on October 15, 2019.
Court documents showed that Okuto, who is the first accused person in the case, was in a stable relationship with Jumwa after the legislator divorced her husband some 20 years ago.
In a pre-bail report submitted to Lady Justice Njoki Mwangi, the lawmaker was living with Okuto at her palatial homes in Lavington and Malindi.
Jumwa’s defence team, which comprise of lawyers Danstan Omari, Wycliff Ombeta and Jared Magolo, applied to have the two released on bail terms.
However, Jumwa dumped her boyfriend during one of the court proceedings in July 2021. The controversial MP withdrew all lawyers she had hired to represent Okuto in the murder case after falling out with him.
Jumwa also sought the cancellation of a bond agreement in which her daughter was listed as Okuto’s surety.
On 8th July 2021 Jumwa, in the company of her lawyers, walked out of the Mombasa Law Courts after the proceedings, leaving her co-accused Okuto behind as he tried to figure out the way forward.
Justice Anne Ongijo gave Okuto until July 12 to find new lawyer(s) and a new surety. It’s not clear why Jumwa decided to dump her boyfriend like a used toilet paper.
Jumwa fell in love with Okuto while he was her driver and bodyguard. Okuto’s wife Judith Awinja is quoted in court documents saying he was first employed as the MP’s bodyguard before the contract mutated into a romantic relationship.
The Malindi MP hired Okuto as her private bodyguard in 2014 after the State withdrew her security detail.
“Enquiries established that the accused (Jumwa) divorced her first husband over 20 years ago. That for the last six years she has been in a stable relationship with Mr Geoffery Okuto, who is the co-accused in this matter,” read documents presented in court in 2020.
Jumwa terminated Okuto’s services as a bodyguard and personal driver after the July 2021 fallout. He told journalists that the Malindi MP left him out to dry.
