A Jack Russel whippet dog was finally rescued from dangerous mudflats after a rescue operation that lasted four days.
The dog had defied efforts of police, firefighters and coastguards to get her to safer ground.
The area was bound to flood and the rescuers had to think imaginatively of an idea that would rescue the dog. They finally came up with the idea of attaching a sausage on a drone using a string with hopes that its scent would tempt the pet to safety.

“It was a crazy idea,” said Chris Taylor, the chair of the Denmead Drone Search and Rescue team. The bait actually worked as the dog was hungry.
“If we hadn’t had got her away from that area the tide would have come in and she would have been at risk of drowning. It was something we had never tried before – the sausages were the last resort, as we couldn’t reach her by kayak or any other means,” Taylor said.
The dog is said to have disappeared in reed beds near Emsworth, Hampshire in the United Kingdom after slipping her lead. She was spotted on the mudflats after a frantic public appeal.
However after being rescued, the dog again ran away but was later found inland from the marsh and was reunited with its owners.
