Trans Nzoia Man Walks Home To His Death Four Years Later After Waking Up His Father

Date:

A 73-year old man from Cherangany’s Chepsiro location, Trans-Nzoia County is in custody over the death of his son.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, James Tarus killed his 31-year old son who had visited home after four years when he woke him up from his sleep on Sunday evening.

The 31-year old had returned home drunk and went to wake up his father who was enjoying the evening nap.

“Unlike the Biblical prodigal son who repentantly returned home and received warm hugs and a fattened calf treatment from the father, the 31-year-old victim who had been away for four years arrived home to no welcome, as his elderly father was enjoying an early evening power nap in his bedroom.

“The victim who had on his way home downed several bottles of booze proceeded to his father’s room, jolting him to wake as he lifted the bed,” read the police report.

Out of anger, the old man hit his son with a wooden bar on his head before tying a rope on his neck and restraining him to a sofa.

“The area chief and concerned neighbours who made their way to the home arrived too late, only to find a motionless cold body of the young man in the same restrained position,” DCI said.

Cherangany police officers rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident.

Tarus was arrested and escorted to the police station where he is being held as police carry out their investigations.
