Motorists using the Thika superhighway will have to resort to alternative routes when going to the DCI headquarters following a directive by the Kenya national highways authority (KENHA).
Through a statement released on Tuesday morning, the Kenya national highways authority revealed that there was huge traffic snarl up within the area that was caused by a track which lost control and fell into a ditch, forcing traffic police officers to block the route.
Besides, motorists using the Thika route have been told to be very careful in a bid to avoid more damages and unexpected accidents.
“Traffic advisory: Motorists are advised to take caution and use alternative routes while approaching DCI Offices along Kiambu Road. This follows reports that a truck lost control and hit a ditch blocking one lane of Kiambu Road. Drive Safe… Arrive Safe,” read the statement.
In a similar incident, The National Police Service recently barricaded the busy Thika road Superhighway without any explanation to the public.
According to reports shared by Sonko News, the police in collaboration with the National Youth Service (NYS) were conducting a thorough check up on vehicles entering and leaving the Nairobi Central Business District.
Those familiar with the incident revealed that the roadblock was erected at Garden City Mall hence worsening traffic around Roysambu area.
“Unusually high police presence on Thika Road near Safari Park. Very heavy traffic with police stopping every single car on the service lane for inspection,” Said one person.
The blocking of the Thika road came just a day after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offered a 60 million Kenya shilling reward for anyone that would issue information on three terror suspects that escaped Kamiti Maximum Prison.
Through a statement shared, the criminal detectives confirmed that the three terror suspects escaped Kamiti Prison past midnight at around 1 am.
“A reward of Ksh 60 million will be offered to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the following three terror suspects, who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison today at 1 am,” read part of the police statement.
The National Transport and Safety Authority ( NTSA) and The National Police Service (NPS) have in the recent months raised concerns about numerous accidents on Kenyan roads.
