The family of slain serial killer Masten Milimu Wanjala is yet to receive his body for burial close to two months after he was killed by a mob.
According to his family, the police have not released his body for burial and they believe that their kin is still alive.
His father Robert Watila Wanjala says that his son is in police custody and he should be prosecuted in court for his mistakes.
“The child is still with the police. We can not bury a person who is alive. We are just waiting for the police report, he should be taken to court and sentenced according to his mistakes,” Watila said.
He further noted that when Masten was taken to his home area in Bungoma as detectives visited his scenes of crime, the suspect was heavily guarded and could not be reached by anything.
“I just heard rumors that he died. I have not confirmed that he is dead. The clan has not confirmed his death and the government has also not informed us that our son died,” Watila claimed.
He said that Masten has been in custody for too long and should be arraigned in court so that he can be sentenced to jail.
Masten was killed by a mob in October after escaping from Jogoo Road Prison. He confessed to the brutal murder of at least 13 teenagers.
After his death, his family said that it was not ready to bury him for fear of attracting curses.
The family, which was not present when an autopsy was conducted on Milimu’s body on October 21 at Bungoma Referral Hospital Mortuary, said it was taking time to reflect on his issue.
