“Njaa Ilikua Imenishika Hadi Kwa Mgongo” Kamiti Escapee Recounts How Hunger Pangs Caused His Arrest

Date:

A jovial Kamiti escapee Musharaf Abdallah alias Alex Shikanda entertained journalists with stories of his arrest in Kitui when he appeared before the Kahawa Law Courts.

While speaking to journalists at the Anti-Terror Police Unit quarters at Kahawa Law Courts on Monday November 29th, Shikanda happily narrated his failed escape.

The terror convict told journalists at Kahawa Law Courts that hunger pangs is what caused him be arrested in Kitui.

The Kamiti escapee appeared jovial while taking a packet of milk, narrating how he took chips (fried potatoes) and eventually got confused probably leading to his identification and arrest.

Shikanda said he was well-fed and had a strong body before escaping but the encounters he underwent during his escape drained him leaving him with a very weak body.

“Nilipewa chips nikachanganyikiwa…mwili iliishia huko kitui nlikua na mwili kubwa, njaa ilikua imenishika hadi kwa mgongo” Shikanda narrated amid laughter from those who were interviewing him.

The terror convict further explained that he escaped from Kamiti because he was seeking his freedom after he was wrongfully convicted.

He insisted that he had not committed any terror crime and added that he will try to escape from Kamiti prison again if chance presents itself.

Shikanda lamented that he has spent a decade behind bars and fears that he will be handed more time by the courts.

“I have been behind bars for over 10 years now so I was looking for my freedom. If I get another chance, I must escape again because they will now add me more years on top of what I had been handed in the past,” said Shikanda.
