Equity Bank Kisumu:Robbers Escape As Police Camp At The Door For 6 Hrs

Date:

The equity bank Kisumu suspected robbers are a lucky lot having managed to escape as several police officers camped at the door for many hours.

What was hyped as a serious security operation with the hope of bursting the four robbers inside the bank has ended up in disappointment, with sources claiming that the bank robbers disguised as clients before leaving the facility.

Citizens had hoped that the presence of police officers at the door of Equity bank Kisumu would culminate into something since the robbers had held hostage a number of people inside.

Besides, so far it is not clear the amount of money that was stolen and whether those that were initially arrested unarmed had any link with the criminal event.

Sonko News had earlier learnt that the officers were arresting anyone they came across including some customers and the employees for questioning.

Kisumu residents were on Tuesday morning treated to a rare drama after armed robbers attacked Equity bank located at the busy Ang’awa area.

From the video in possession of Sonko News, the locals took to their feet as security forces exchanged gunfire with the robbers who had taken control of the Equity bank at Ang’awa.

So intense was the operation that people were advised to move away from the bank premises since the robbers were locked inside with most of the staffs.

Prior to taking charge of the bank, the suspects are alleged to have used teargas to disperse customers. They are believed to have entered like normal customers.

“Equity Bank Kisumu Ang’awa Street Kisumu under siege. Armed robbers holding staff hostage. Police officers responding with Gun Fire ??” Reported one Mr. Zack familiar with the incident.

Another witness revealed that the robbers who were inside the bank exchanged gunshots with the officers.

Thugs entered the bank and we do not know what is happening. All I know we have just heard gunshots and up until now, they are still inside the bank,” a witness said.

However, it now remains a mystery how the police officers never came across even a single individual armed inside the bank as earlier claimed.
