Eric Omondi Vows To Continue Causing Trouble Immediately After His Release

Date:

The president of Comedy Eric Omondi is not just about to quit his drama even after spending some hours in the police cell.

Eric was arrested on Tuesday November 16 as he led a procession of artists to parliament to make some demands that will revive the music industry.

According to the police, they were forced to detain him for some time at the Central Police station in Nairobi’s CBC for causing disturbance near the parliament buildings.

“He had not followed procedures to stage the so called protests. We are however sorting him out,” Central OCPD Adamson Bungei said while answering questions on why the comedian was taken into custody.

Eric was however lucky as he did not spend the night in police cells. Speaking after his release, he promised to lead the protests next Tuesday until their voices are heard.

He reiterated the same on his Instagram account.

“NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER!!! Tupatane Next TUESDAY and EVERY TUESDAY mpaka TUSKIZWE. PLAY 75% KENYAN,” the comedian wrote.

Eric had planned to storm the parliament on Tuesday to demand that local media houses play 75% of local music and also the artists to be paid equally as their international counterparts.

“Ready to make history!!!We are storming the Parliament on Tuesday at 10am. If you are a Kenyan Musician or Aspiring Musician let’s meet in large numbers at Parliament Buildings   at 10am next Tuesday. We won’t be asking for much,” the comedian said on November 10.

“All we want is: All Local Media to play 75 Percent of Local Music just like it is in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Zimbabwe and the List goes on and on. That established local Musicians are accorded equal pay and treatment as their  International Counterparts by promoters and event organizers,” he added.
