Terror Suspect Arrested After Offering Kshs180k To Police For Information About A Popular City Club

A terror suspect is currently being grilled by anti-terror detectives after being arrested in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The suspect, who has been identified as Ali Abdullahi Hussein, was arrested at around 2 am as he made inquiries about a popular club along Lang’ata road.

According to a statement by DCI, Hussein approached a police officer on duty seeking details about the popular joint.

The report says that he wanted to know the day of the week that the club is usually filled with people.

“The suspect who is a Somali national had at around 2am approached a police officer on patrol and cunningly sought information from him that he found suspicious. The suspect sought to know on which day of the week a popular joint along Langata road, hosts the largest number of patrons,” DCI stated.

When the officer refused to provide information, he offered him Kshs180, 000 in exchange for the information.

“The officer was puzzled by the questions from the suspect, who posed as an ordinary civilian seeking general information. When the officer hesitated to respond, the suspect offered a reward of Sh180,000 in exchange for the information that was not forthcoming,” the report further read.

The officer on patrol was convinced that he had ill intentions forcing him to alert his colleagues.

“Convinced that the man was up-to no good, the officer on patrol raised his colleagues who responded immediately and arrested the suspect. 1,396 U.S dollars were recovered from the suspect. He is currently being grilled by anti terror detectives, to establish his motive,” DCI said.

This comes few days after DCI offered a reward of up to Kshs50 million for information that will lead to the arrest of five terror suspect namely; Salim Rashid, Trevor Ndwiga, Muhammad Abubakar, Elgiva Bwire and Barigi Abdikadir.
