Suba North MP John Mbadi has advised DP William Ruto to walk with experienced politicians when going to rallies in certain areas.
This comes after DP Ruto’s tour in Kisumu on Tuesday, November 10 turned chaotic as youths hurled stones at him.
“I advise the DP, when he is going to certain areas, to look for old politicians if he cannot get the current ones to be in his team not these cartels who have no clue, who do not understand the dynamics of politics,” Mbadi said in an interview with Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV.
In the same interview, Aden Duale who was present accused Mbadi of attempting to decide on who the Hustler Nation should associate with during political campaigns.
Mbadi however said that he was just giving free advice and Ruto and his allies could take it or leave it.
According to Mbadi, the chaos was as a result of the gifts that DP handed the people of Kondele. He said that the gifts were little yet there were so many people who expected to get them.
“A place like Kondele, there is a way to go there and address the people. There are thousands of unemployed youth, some on drugs. Really you cannot tell them that I’m giving you two million.”
DP Ruto was forced to cut short his speech at Kondele and scamper for safety as anti-riot police officers took charge to deal with the rowdy crowd.
The police have however said that they had requested the second in command to skip his rally at Kondele over tension.
“Based on the intelligence gathered, there was tension within Kondele owing to the alleged distribution of campaign logistical funds amongst local groups. This intelligence was promptly shared by police with H.E the deputy president’s team, with recommendation to skip the affected area during the tour,” read part of the police statement.
On the other hand, Ruto’s office blamed the police for the violence saying that his security was downscaled ahead of his 3-day tour in the Nyanza region.
