African Church of the Holy Spirit bishop Shem Shamalla on Tuesday passed on just a few days after deputy president William Ruto gifted him a free car.
The death of Shem Shamalla was confirmed by The church’s national Secretary bishop Samson Khalwale who disclosed that he died after a short illness.
The African Church of the Holy Spirit high priest died just one month after Deputy President William Ruto gifted him a brand new car after he attended a church service in Kakamega.
According to K24, the man of God has been sick for a long period of time but could not go for treatment to any hospital within the country.
Apparently, the church’s doctrine does not allow its staunch members to seek medication in hospitals since it is against their faith.
Bishop Shem Shamalla was 84 years of age by the time he passed on. He rose to the church’s leadership sometime in 2014, making him the fifth High priest.
During the car hand over ceremony, William Ruto was joined by a number of leaders such as the former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro,
Dressed in the African Church of The Holy Spirit Uniform, Ruto urged the church members to back his bottom up economic model so that their lives change after he takes power.
“I want to tell you that bottom-up is in the word of God, and if you want to prove it, read the book of Psalms 133:7-8. The church’s faithful were grateful to the DP, with one of them thanking him for “visiting our little known church”. He posed.
“We want our nation to uplift the jobless, the small farmers and those who are in small businesses to be on the same level with the rest,” he continued.
In the meantime, it is not yet clear whether Bishop Shem Shamalla will be taken to the morgue given that the church’s doctrine prohibits anything linked to a hospital.
