FKF Boss Nick Mwendwa Blamed For Harambee Stars Poor Performance

Date:

Kenya’s football team, Harambee stars, lost to Mali after being beaten 5-0 in the world cup qualifiers match that was played on Thursday night.

The team returned to the country on Friday with the head coach Engin Firat  taking full responsibility of the performance.

“I take the opportunity to apologize to Kenya fans [especially] for the first half. If [fans] want to blame somebody then it should be me. But the [players] should be left to concentrate on [the Sunday match against the same opponent]. I need the [players] to have their minds free for the match,” Firat said.

However Kenyans have blamed the Football Kenya Federation chair Nick Mwendwa for the poor performance while advising that the team should be disbanded.

“Once radar spotted this plane entering Kenya, KDF should have sent fighter jets and direct it to Manda Airstrip..Hold Nick hostage before sending him to court martial for trial. Disband Harambee Stars and Technical bench and have FIFA ban for a fresh start,” Gakuo Chuma said in a tweet.

“Reflect all counties in bottom up team selection…. Mashinani trials…. National Team development from grassroots,” Kibet william said.

Josiah wrote that, “For FKF management position i think it should be a contract. Why do we need to have the so called MWENDWA for all time delivering nothing, players not paid in time, sleeping on the floor at airports, changing coaches like pants he’s just enjoying our money and we suffering.”

“As long as mwendwa is still the FKF president even if we bring Pep or Tuchel to be our coach we will still do nothing because management is poor. In just one year now Harambee stars had got 3 coaches??? he added

While Larry Liza said that, “These results were deeply disappointing and gravely distressing. While the coach has a share of responsibility, @Nmwendwa and his team also owe us an explanation and bear responsibility for this disgrace.”

The team has three more matches lined up for the qualifiers with next being on Sunday. The team will face Mali at home.
