Biting Hunger Leads To Death Of Middle Aged Man Inside A Game Reserve

Date:

The body of a middle aged man was discovered in Mwea Game reserve in Makima, Mbeere South Sub-county in Embu county.

It is alleged that the deceased identified as Njue Njeru had sneaked into the game reserve to hunt due to the biting hunger that has rocked Mbeere South.

According to the Makima location Senior Chief Charles Ngari, a knife and a panga were recovered from where the deceased’s body was found.

“We suspect he had sneaked into the game reserve on a hunting mission or he had gone there to look for raw materials for construction,” Ngari said.

The administrator further said that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to Njue’s death.

He also warned locals against sneaking into the game reserve because of the dangerous wild animals.

The deceased was likely to have been attacked by a buffalo.

Mbeere locals have been calling upon the government to distribute relief food following the hunger.

Kiambere, Mavuria and Makima are the most affected by the hunger.

According to the Mbeere South Member of Parliament Geoffrey King’ang’i , many students might fail to return to school when they reopen due to the famine.

“The government should consider giving Mbeere South residents relief food ,many are suffering because in the last season they got nothing from their farms because the rain was not enough,”King’ang’i said.
