Man storms Out Of Friend’s Wedding After Being Asked To Remove His Earrings

Date:

A man has caused a stir in social media after claiming that he walked out of a church during his friend’s wedding after he was asked to remove his earrings.

The Nigerian man identified as Opayemi defended his move saying that he was mandated to adhere to his dress code even in a church.

According to Opayemi, he was attending a wedding mass at a Baptist church in Lagos as one of the groomsmen for his friend’s wedding when he was asked to pull off his earrings.

“At a Baptist Church in Isolo, groomsman duties and the reverend just told me I’m not allowed to wear earrings in church. I calmly left the church, guess it’ll be the reception for me,” Opayemi said on Instagram.

Opayemi went on to say that his friend (the groom) escorted him out of the church.

“And the team ‘Do It for your friend’, the friend escorted me out while we laughed about it,” Opayemi wrote.

Opayemi further said that the groom snapped at the pictures he posted telling him that they will meet at the reception.

As soon as he posted, the comments sections was filled with mixed reactions.

“I would’ve removed the earrings for my friends sake, can’t be out here proving unnecessary points all the time,” Read a comment.

Another one said that, “”To remove earrings for four or five hours is not very hard, is it?”

“It’s the church standard that will cost you nothing to obey, same way you would adhere to instructions from your company,” another Instagram user commented.

In a separate case, another social media user in Nigerian left netizens talking after posting a photo of a bride in a black wedding dress.

“Someone finally did it, so beautiful,” said the user with a handle @AskMeWhatIWant.
