Franklin Bett: Deep State Will Exploit One Major Factor To Hand Ruto Humiliating Defeat In 2022

Date:

Former State House Comptroller Franklin Bett has warned William Ruto that deep state is real and that he will be defeated thoroughly in 2022 because one major factor.

Bett described the formidable influence of the ‘deep state’, also known as ‘the system’, in presidential succession during an interview with the Star.

The career public servant was among president Daniel Moi’s few trusted advisers, he said Ruto will be defeated because he is not the clear favorite in 2022 presidential election.

Bett explained that the deep state couldn’t influence 2002 election because Mwai Kibaki was the clear favorite in the race and that the whole country was against Kanu at the time.

“If you look at the Narc-Kanu contest and recall the whole country was singing away from Kanu, and if you ask me if this is the same scenario, my answer is ‘no’,” Bett explained.

“The resentment was so intense that no matter the deep state, the country was mobilising towards Narc. This time, are the people sufficiently angered by the Uhuru administration that they are able to march forward? I think not,” Bett added.

The former State House Comptroller also admits that Ruto’s dominance in the Mt Kenya region is under threat, thanks to the forays being made by ODM leader Raila Odinga, the other reason Ruto could end up in the opposition.

Bett’s explanation of how the deep state functions is reminiscent of Nyandarua governor Francis Kimemia’s account that the deep state can only influence election if there is no clear cut favorite presidential candidate.

Kimemia offered an insight into the activities of the deep state while speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday September 21st.

The Nyandarua governor explained that the person deep state supports must be credible and electable to the Kenyan mass so as to influence the voting pattern to their favor.

He also asserted that the candidate deep state supports must win if they are in a tight race with their closest competitor.

“The state exists, but I can assure you it could be deeper than deep. If you have two candidates at the rate of 50-50, and the Deep State backs one, you can be sure that one will win. The candidate must be credible and electable, that becomes very important if the Deep State are to support a candidate,” said Kimemia.

Ruto is not the favorite candidate in 2022 presidential election, and that’s what the deep state will exploit.

In the interview with the Star, Bett said deep state extends out of the government and it can perform ‘miracles’ by laying a tough defense against Ruto.
