A Thursday morning meeting between sections of Mt. Kenya leaders and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has established a number of demands.
Muarng’a women rep Sabina Chege disclosed that Mt. Kenya parliamentary group met with former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga for a breakfast meeting to deliberate on issues of the region, among them:
- Equitable Resource Allocation
- Equal Representation
- Access to Government opportunities
- A presence in National Politics equivalent to our Political Numbers
- Peace and security for all Kenyans wherever they are irrespective of their political affiliations
- Respect for leaders ( past, present & future)
- Continuity of All Government Projects not complete by 2022
Members present included Hon. Kanini kega , Hon. Amos Kimunya, Hon Peter Kimari , Hon. Gichuki Mugambi, Hon. Mercy Gakuya, Hon. Jane Wanjiku, Hon. Stanley Muthama, Hon. Antony Kiai, Hon. Maoka Maore, Hon. Peter Mwathi, Hon. Ruth Mwaniki, Hon. Waihenya Ndirangu, Hon.Sen. Ngugi IG, Hon. Eng. Ngugi Nduati, Hon. Jonah Mburu, Hon. Joseph Manje and Hon. Wanjiku Kibe. ODM MPs present were Hon. Junet Mohammed, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi and Hon. Teddy Mwambire.
We shall keep on Talking, deliberating and negotiating, as we keep the interests of the Mountain at the peak.
The meeting comes just a few days after Raila pulled mammoth crowds during his rallies in different towns in Nyeri, Murang’a and Kiambu counties.
In some instances, Raila’s convoy was blocked by elated residents who demanded the former Prime Minister to address them.
On Tuesday, Raila got another major boost in his State House bid after an elite team of Mount Kenya billionaires said they will back his quest.
Apparently, the Bahati member of parliament Kimani Ngunjiri alleged that each of those Mt. Kenya tycoons that met Raila Odinga will give him 1 billion each so that he uses the same towards his 2022 presidential ambitions.
“Today wameiba pesa ya serikali, Raila wanampea 1 billion each person. Iyo pesa lazima itarudishwa kwa ukora ile wamepanga. Raila will be given that money but let me tell you your in wrong track for those people.” He alleged.
