There was drama in Karen as frustrated youths chanted ODM/Dynasty/Raila after they pocketed millions of money from deputy president William Ruto.
From the video clip in possession of Sonko News, these youths chanted a number of words such as ODM, Hakuna Kura, dynasty, Raila, Baba, Inawezekana, Azimio la umoja, Raila Tibbim, Mwizi, Uhuru ndio rais amongst other chants friendly to the handshake side.
From the video clips, it seems these youths were frustrated after their financial expectations were not met.
One man who attended the event spoke to Sonko News on condition of anonymity claiming that they expected more money from the deputy president since he has always presented himself before the public as the money bag in town.
“Most of those youths were there for money but they ended up being disappointed after they were given the amount which was way much below their expectations. These people thought that going to Karen would solve their financial difficulties.” Said the source.
“Ruto is my neighbor in Karen but am saddened how these youths arrived at his place as early as 5 in the morning then wanatoka bila kupwea ata maji ya kunywa, I almost cried when i saw some old ladies trekking literally until i called them and gave them transport from my pocket. Ruto is a conman and anybody going to his place must be cautious. Imagine hawa watu walikaa hapo hadi jioni wakiongeleshwa na DP mwishowe wanaachwa bila fare and mark you these are people with families. ” Said another source familiar with the incident.
In the meantime, the deputy president while at his Karen home on Tuesday said that he will make the current National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) comprehensive so that it covers him too (as the president elect).
According to Ruto, he will establish a robust public insurance system that takes care of everyone from the lowest class all to the presidency.
“We want to come up with a health insurance that everyone ranging from Mama mboga to the president will have so that all the people are taken care of by this national insurance fund
“This will help the poor in the society who further get weighed down by paying huge medical bills which will now be taken care of by the national government.” Said Ruto.
