Kalenjin pastors have taken a swipe at deputy president William Samoie Ruto over his habit of only visiting and taking goodies to churches in Mt. Kenya.
The pastors who were baffled by Ruto’s generous contributions in Mt. Kenya churches wondered why the second in command was just helping one region in Kenya while ignoring churches in his own Rift Valley backyards.
According to these pastors, they are yearning for the time the deputy president will start visiting their churches every Sunday so that they can also benefit like their Mt. Kenya counterparts.
“The question we are asking is when will our day come. Are there no churches here in Rift Valley that can be visited and gifted? The bigger question is, when shall we get our share of these things going round yet the September 30th deadline is fast approaching.
“In Rift Valley we also have churches, constructions we need to finish and needy students we need to support. It is very unfair that Central Kenya churches have been given more than they can handle and that is why violence is now being witnessed in the churches there.
“There is one particular group that is seriously blessed and has visited some churches in Central Kenya more than 50 times. We can only imagine how many projects we would have finished by now if we had half the visits.
“Tupewe share yetu kabla CBK ifunge iyo mlango na iyo ndio ombi letu. That is our request that we should also be considered so that we also have an equitable share of the National cake because it all belongs to us
“We want to support the church so that we have a healthy, just and fair society that is very important. We support our leaders, we support the president.” Concluded the statement.
This move by the Kalenjin church leaders is a big blow to deputy president William Ruto since they have painted him to be using the church donations to gain political mileage in Mt. Kenya as opposed to genuinely helping the people.
