Political analyst and scholar Professor Makau Mutua has asked Deputy President William Ruto’s to stop begging President Uhuru Kenyatta for reconciliation.
Through a twitter post, Makau questioned DP Ruto’s move while asking him to accept that he was dumped.
“WHY is DP @WilliamsRuto begging the clergy to reconcile him with his ex-boss?” Makau posed.
He went on to say that, “He brought about the divorce because of irreconcilable differences, desertion, cruelty, and serial infidelity. Ukiwacha, tafadhali achika. No stalking!”
Earlier on Thursday, DP Ruto said that he was willing to set aside the differences that he has with President Kenyatta and move on together.
Ruto said that he was ready to reconcile with the president without giving any conditions.
“I am ready without conditions any moment because we were elected by Kenyans together and they gave us the responsibilities of running the government for the stipulated time,” Ruto said.
He welcomed the reconciliation call by Catholic bishops saying that he was ready any time he will be called upon to attend the mediation talks.
“The bishops have said that they want to mediate talks to reunite me with President Uhuru Kenyatta. I’m ready for the talks without attaching any conditions. He is my boss,” he stated.
He blamed his political enemies for his fall out with President Kenyatta but said that he still respects him as his boss.
The DP further criticized those who were taking advantage of his fall out with President Kenyatta asking them to wait until the 2022 general elections
“You want to come and ride on a government you did not create. They should go out and seek those votes as we did and they will also find me outside there,” Ruto remarked.
On Wednesday, Catholic bishops expressed their concern on the fall out between the two leaders while saying that their differences may result to political intolerance between their supporters across the country.
