Crisis In UDA As Nairobi Members Angrily Protest Ruto’s Dictatorship

Date:

UDA members from Nairobi are crying foul over a list of preferred candidates who have been endorsed by William Ruto to contest in 2022 polls without fair nomination by the party.

The dissatisfied members who raised their concerns during a press conference strongly criticized UDA following what they said was unfairness demonstrated by Ruto.

The deputy president has endorsed Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata to vie in the 2022 gubernatorial seat while Ruto endorsed lawyer Edward Muriu to vie for Gatanga parliamentary seat.

The dissatisfied UDA members says Ruto endorsements of certain politicians will greatly affect the party’s nominations which are slated for April next year.

The aggrieved members noted that the nomination process will only by a charade since the party’s top echelon has already decided who will contest on UDA tickets.

“William Ruto has been meeting leaders at his Karen residence. He has been endorsing them to run for various seats on UDA party ticket. This is biasness because it’s clear that he has his own list of those he wants to be elected. This is a prove that UDA primaries will be shambolic and unfair. There is a plan to rig some candidates in favor of others just like it happened in 2017 during the Jubilee party nominations,” said a dissatisfied UDA member.

After giving a press statement, the aggrieved members went ahead to remove and dump UDA branded t-shirts and threw them away.

In a video that went viral on social media, the members could be heard saying “tumechoka na Ruto,” which translates to “We are tired with Ruto.”
