Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has come out with all guns blazing after a photo of a badly done tarmac road said to be in his county went viral on social media.
The photo shows a man peeling back a tarmac road which had a very thin layer. Basically the photo was illustrating shoddy work on the part of the contractor.
Many tweeps claimed that the poorly constructed road in the viral photo was in Machakos County.
Some argued that the road was constructed under the governor’s Maendeleo Chap Chap philosophy where roads were tarmacked in haste but the quality was always wanting.

Alfred Mutua was quick to clarify that the road was not even in Kenya, saying that the photo was taken in South Africa.’
The Machakos governor blamed Deputy President William Ruto of sponsoring online campaign to maim his development record.
“Why are @WilliamsRuto propagandists so desperate? This is NOT MACHAKOS. It is NOT even KENYA. You have been telling lies about my work for years and we have been silent. NO MORE. We will take you head on and in 2022 we will DEFEAT you all. It is clear I am a real threat,” wrote Alfred Mutua.

Adding that;
“The picture is actually from a South African Facebook page. Truly these haters are cheap and running SCARED of my growing popularity. Kenyans have seen Maendeleo Chap Chap at work and they are tired of being lied to and are saying Mambo Ni Fresh Na MUTUA.”

Mutua has had a frosty relationship with Ruto since last year when he claimed that the DP had threated him with unspecified consequences for criticizing him.
The Machakos governor recorded a statement at Kilimani Police Station saying that Ruto, Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale made threats against his life on two separate occasions at State House, Nairobi on November 25th 2019.
