Kisii Thugs Attack First Year Students, Raping One Of Them

Date:

Two students are nursing injuries after a gang attacked them at their rented room in a private hostel.

Ekerubo Gietai National Polytechnic students lost personal effects including clothes and mobile phones.

The two, a boyfriend and his girlfriend were attacked by people they did not identify at once who cut them with sharp objects before robbing them and raping the lady.

The two who are in their first year of learning had travelled back to college to prepare for reopening as they waited for their end of year Kenya National Examinations Council examinations which is due in January.

According to the victims, the terror lasted more than two hours with the gangster of around six men having the luxury to rape the lady in turns.

“I was raped in turns by two of the men,” the lady narrated.

The shaken male student said he had travelled to the area to have ample time to study for the exams just as his girlfriend.

The lady said the assailants had first come by around 9 pm Tuesday night and inquired whereabouts of a person they purported to be a student.

“They asked if someone they identified as Job was around. But we told them we didn’t know the person,” he said.

The gang then returned after 10 minutes and first hit the male student in the head before cutting him on the shoulder using a panga.

It was after he lost consciousness when they took his girlfriend outside and raped her in turns.

The duo was among three occupants in a line of 12 houses at Bonyunyu Shopping centre where the majority of students live when the institution is open.

The institution has no hostels and all its 1,200 students depend on the rooms put up by private investors in the centre for boarding.

The Institute’s principal Geoffrey Andama said that the security situation around the college was wanting and blamed it on local brews that are rampant in the area.

“Currently we don’t have college hostels and that is the main problem which has made our learners move to private residences that are this insecure,” Andama said.

County Commissioner Amos Mariba said security agents had taken up the matter and the perpetrators will be arrested soon.

The victims were treated at Ekerenyo Subcounty Hospital before they were discharged.

The lady was also given medications to prevent any possible contracting of sexually transmitted infections.
