Envoy collapses and dies at KCB Moi Avenue branch

A South Sudanese envoy died at KCB Moi Avenue branch on Thursday, in what is suspected to be COVID-19 related.

A police report stated the envoy -Michael Nyang Joook – aged 66, collapsed after complaining about having difficulty breathing.

In a statement, KCB said, “A customer at our KCB Advantage Branch, Moi Avenue, Nairobi collapsed and died this afternoon during a visit to the branch.”

“The incident was reported to the police and they took over the matter. We condole and stand with the family during this difficult time.”

KCB said as a result of this, the Advantage Center will be temporarily closed.

“We encourage our customers to visit our other Advantage Centers or use alternative banking touchpoints such as Cash recyclers, ATMs, Cash Deposit Machines, Mobi, KCB-MPESA, Vooma and Internet Banking.” noted the statement.

A man wearing a hazmat suit was seen fumigating the bank’s entrance.

A hearse later arrived at the parking lot to collect the body as people believed to be his relations entered the bank.

The body was taken to Lee funeral home.

This sad news comes as the Ministry of Health has announced that 1,068 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 7,556, a 14 % positivity rate

According to a statement sent by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the total count now stands at 47,212.

From the cases, 1,044 are Kenyans and 24 are foreigners.

Unfortunately, 12 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 870.

Kenya recorded 290 recoveries, 235 being from the home-base care program while 55 were from various hospitals.
