Tononoka Secondary Schools Closed After Teachers Test Positive Of COVID-19

Star of the Sea High School in Mombasa was today (October 21, 2020) after four cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at the institution.

A senior teacher and three others tested positive Tuesday, forcing the school to be shut with immediate effect.

On Wednesday, health officials embarked on fumigating premises within the learning institution.

Tononola High School is another institution hit by the virus after recording eleven cases that led to its closure.

It is still unclear if there are any students who have contracted the virus.

According to a report by K24, Mombasa County Commissioner Gibert Kitiyo that the schools will remain closed for two weeks.

Form Four students had already resumed physically learning on October 12 following Education minister George Magoha’s directive on the resumption of studies in the country after seven-month hiatus die to the coronavirus pandemic.
