“At about 9 pm last evening, there was an attempted attack on one of our security camps along the common border with Somalia but our officers managed to repulse the attackers,” he said as reported by Nation Africa.

Kyatha said no officer at the camp was injured and no damage was caused in the attack.

Somalia Border remains volatile

The BPU camp is located at Sheikh Barrow along the Mandera-Lafey-Elwak Road and was established in 2015 to terror incidents within Fino location.

Kyatha said the situation along the Kenya and Somalia border remains due to the increased movement of militants.

“Security situation in the area remains unpredictable as we continue receiving intelligence on the movements of the al Shabaab on the Somalia side,” he said.

Security reports have shown that the militants are on a revenge mission after some of them were killed by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) during a clash at Alungo in Mandera South last month.
