Police Constable Nancy Njeri to be charged with murder after suspension

The Police Constable responsible for chopping off the lawyer’s hands, Ms. Nancy Njeri is set to be suspended from being a police officer pending her murder trial.

Ms. Nancy Njeri suspension comes after the death of lawyer, Onesmus Masaku on Sunday.

Makueni police boss Joseph Ole Napeiyan told Citizen Digital that Njeri will be suspended as she is set to face murder charges.

According to Napeiyan, the charges against Njeri will be amended from grievous harm to murder.

Masaku died at the Kenyatta National Hospital on Sunday 18, where he had been receiving treatment after his hands were slashed 11 days ago.

Njeri, who had been stationed at Makueni Police Station in Wote, is accused of slashing the advocate’s hands on October 7, 2020. The advocate was rushed to the Makueni Hospital but later transferred to KNH.

Njeri was later arrested and arraigned in court on October 9 where she was charged with causing grievous harm.

It is alleged that the two had an altercation at the lawyer’s house before the incident occurred.

The court ruled that she remain in custody at Wote Police Station for 14 days as investigations continue.

The case will be mentioned on October 23, 2020.
