“Jerusalema” Hit Cancelled In Zambia

Zambia’s ministry of tourism has canceled a hit show that would feature South African artists Master KG, of “Jerusalema” hit and Mafikizolo.

The event dubbed the “Covid-19 sensitization rally” has been organized by the Patriotic Front but faced serious criticism by members of the public.

The country’s local musicians felt that the government was going to pay a lot of money to foreign artists. At the same time, Zambian argued that the event would lead to a spike in coronavirus cases.

The ministry of tourism announced that no foreign musicians had been cleared to perform in the country and in case there was any, the case would be subjected to stringent checks.

“All foreign artists are supposed to be cleared at least three months before the event and are expected to pay 20% of performance fees as Withholding Tax Clearance to the Zambia Revenue Authority,” tourism ministry spokesperson Sakabilo Kalembwe said in a statement.
