A 54-year old man is calling upon well-wishers to help him raise fees so that he can attend a course at Masinde Muliro University.
Martin Kibet Mang’ori, a resident of Bungoma scored a D in his KCSE 2020 exams which he sat for at St. Patrick Catholic High School.
“It has been my dream to join the University and major in music and dance, but my financial situation and responsibilities will not allow me to realize this dream. That’s why I urge any well-wisher to help me in realizing my full potential,” he said.
Mang’ori added that he has always had the urge to get educated but he was unable to find a sponsor after sitting for his CPE exams.
The situation forced him to resolve to farming and business but 42 years later, he managed to beat all odds and enrolled in form four.
According to Mang’ori, his deteriorating health and the responsibility to take care of his family cannot allow him to pay for his university education.
In a related case, a Kenyan police officer has revealed how a lady he took to school dumped him.
Sergeant Moses Kimenchu said the unfortunate incident happened when he received an increment on his salary during retired President Mwai Kibaki’s term.
In an interview with a local TV station, the sergeant said that he had enough money and did not mind taking the lady who he had been in a serious relationship with to college.
Kimenchu said that he gave her Kshs65, 000and even bought her a bike to ease her daily journey to the college.
According to Kimenchu, he had planned to introduce the lady to his family on January 8, 2008.
“I was very serious about her. I even planned to marry her. So I would often go to their home,” he said.
“She was unreachable from December 30. On the day she was to meet my family, I went to her home but no one knew her whereabouts. So I had to surrender,” Kimenchu added.
He then took the bicycle her had bought for her and dumped it in a river and swore never to date again.
