DP William Ruto has been moving around the country campaigning and popularizing his candidature ahead of the next general Election.
Even before the official campaign time set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) finally reaches, DP Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza team have campaigned in most places in the country because hardly a day goes by without Kenya Kwanza campaigns.
On Saturday, February 26, the team took their campaigns to Laikipia to ensure that they secure votes in County.
As the norm in every campaign, DP Ruto made promises and vowed to make the lives of the locals better if they vote his team to form the next government.
First, DP Ruto promised to find a solution to the water challenge that the locals have been facing over time.
“The biggest challenge here in Laikipia is water, we have a dam in Nanyuki, Wimererie and here in Rumuruti. I want to tell you that once we will be solving challenges in the water sector, Laikipia will be the first priority because of the importance of water here in farming, and if we do that you will feed Kenya and you will have money,” Ruto said.
Aside from the water problem, the second in command vowed to deal with land issues including lack of title deeds.
“Laikipia still experiences land problems. A lot of Kenyans here in Laikipia are living like squatters. Many others do not have title deeds for their land. I understand very well and we have put plans in place to ensure that we give Kenyans the opportunity of owning their land by preparing title deeds for them. I want to tell those with such challenges that it is only 5 months before the government that will address your issues as required is formed,” Ruto said.
The Deputy President went ahead and addressed the issue of insecurity that has been affecting the county for a long period of time.
“We know in Laikipia there is still the biggest challenge of insecurity. I want to assure you that the one thing we will do here is to ensure that everybody can sleep at their houses, their children can attend school and everybody is safe because it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that there is security,” he said.
