DP William Ruto is working hard to ensure that he claims the country’s presidency after the August general elections.
The second in command has been campaigning around the country to popularize his hustler nation agendas and also his presidential candidature.
Along his political journey, the Deputy President has been acquiring allies from different parts of the country that are also key in helping him achieve his political aspirations.
Last month, the number of DP Ruto’s allies in Western Kenya increased after two major politicians, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula, united with him to form the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Even though the two parties that have been commanding Western Kenya’s political scene lost a lot of their members due to the union with the hustler nation, their leaders have remained strong and do not seem shaken.
They have embarked on campaign trails with Ruto, with the team campaigning in Nakuru on Friday as they look forward to the Kakamega tour scheduled on Saturday, February 12.
A netizen has however suggested that it was about time for DP Ruto to worry about his allies in Western Kenya.
This is because of the little mistakes and confusion that they have been making in public and even before Ruto when popularizing the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
First it was during the Kenya Kwanza Mega tour in Busia county on Monday February 7. The Nambale Parliamentary seat aspirant Bernard Nandieki mistakenly campaigned for Azimio la Umoja.
“”Harambee…My name is Bernard Nandieki, I will be succeeding John Bunyasi as the Nambale Member of Parliament. I request you all to vote for Azimio,” he said as the crowd cheered before correcting his mistake.
“Vote for Kenya Kwanza led by William Samoei Ruto. Azimio is not here,” Nyandieki, who will be vying under UDA ticket, said.
Another confusion occurred in Nakuru county on Friday when Wetang’ula also almost called upon locals to support Azimio la Umoja.
“We have come here so that we see eye to eye. We have come with William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, Rigathi Gachagua and many others to ask you one thing, support Azz…our group Kenya Kwanza that wants to bring you a government that considers citizens’ interest,” Wetang’ula said.
Finally, DP Ruto’s long term ally Boni Khalwale also messed up on Friday during a press conference.
Khalwale, who is among the hosts of Kenya Kwanza Rally in Kakamega on Saturday, confused One Kenya Alliance for Kenya Kwanza. The former Kakamega senator said that the One Kenya Alliance had really gained support in Kakamega after Mudavadi joined yet he was referring to Kenya Kwanza.
Khalwale just endorsed OKA!
