A group of 29 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) flew into the country for a critical meeting involving Kenya’s officials.
According to Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui the CEOs jetted in for a fact-finding mission aimed at deepening ties with President William Ruto’s administration.
The CEOs are expected to gather information that would help in the structuring of Kenya-US trade deal.
“Honoured to receive top executives (CEOs) of the Savings and Credit Co-operative Associations (SACCAs) from USA, Europe and Canada who are on an introductory tour ahead of the 2024 SACCA Congress which will be held in Nairobi, ” Chelugui stated.
” The team led by the African Federation of Cooperatives Savings and Credit Association (ACCOSCA) Executive Director George Ombado are on a week-long tour of the country.
The meeting is part of the campaign to promote and elevate Cooperatives in Kenya in line with President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” the CS added.
Already, President Ruto set ground for the deal after holding various meetings with executives in the US.
Following Ruto’s tour , he announced plans by several firms to set up bases in Kenya.
The move, Ruto insisted was key to addressing the issue of unemployment in the country.
Besides employment, the Head of State announced that the deal with US firms will spur economic growth in different sectors.
