Judith Muyuka, a mother living in Naivasha was overjoyed after her 10-month-old baby received life-saving treatment for free.
This was after the story of her son, Mustafa Ramadhan, who was battling eczema was featured on Nation by journalist Leon Lidigu.
Eczema is a condition that causes dry, itchy, and inflamed skin.
In the story, Lidigu explained that Muyuka was contemplating taking her own life following the health complications that befell her son.
The situation got worse and she even faced rejection because of Mustafa’s condition.
However, following Nation‘s feature Aga Khan University Hospital tracked Muyuka up to a remote village in Naivasha where they volunteered to treat Mustafa for free.
The 30-year-old mother then called Lidigu appreciating him for sharing her tribulations.
” Thank you so much, Leon, I pray you receive abundant blessings.
Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi tracked me up to Naivasha and my child was treated for free. Let our Lord just bless you,” a text message shared by the mother read in part.
In the previous interview, Muyuka revealed that her grandfather had sold their livestock to support Mustafa’s medical bills.
“My grandfather had to sell his two cows to raise Ksh112,000 to settle the medical bill. My parents and I crowdfunded Ksh70,000 to facilitate the boy’s other needs,’’ she stated.
Before Aga Khan rescued her baby, she had been referred to Kenyatta National Hospital. At the national referral hospital, Baby Mustafa was admitted to intensive care for a month, an experience that drained Muyuka emotionally and financially.
