Opposition chief Raila Amollo Odinga has told off church leaders seeking to amend the recently released Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Raila pondered why the men in clothes failed to forward their recommendations to the BBI taskforce at a time when the public was giving their views. Speaking at his Capitol Hill offices in Upperhill, Raila affirmed that no new ideas would be sneaked into the report. According to him, the plain had already left the station.
“The religious leaders had two years to present their views and proposals. No new proposals will be added to the final BBI report. That is their opinion, we shall proceed with the majority proposals, which are contained in the report.” Raila said.
He further added that the collection of 1 million signatures will commence in the course of next week. Thereafter, the signatures will be handed over to the Chebukati led Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the way forward.

The church leaders had previously expressed their reservation on the idea of giving the president powers to appoint the prime minister. The men of God argued that this proposal was not good since it would lead to the creation on an imperial president.
