Murang’a Bishop Who Hosted DP Ruto Buried In A Lonely Ceremony

Date:

A Pentecostal Bishop who hosted the deputy president William Ruto was on Friday evening buried in a low key ceremony.

Bishop Steven Ng’ang’a of African Independent Pentecostal Church (AIPCA) succumbed to pneumonia on November 5th 2020. The news of his death was confirmed by Mr. Simon Kimaru who is the church’s secretary general.

In what appears to be a blame game, Mr. Simon claimed that the bishop’s pneumonia worsened following exposure to teargas fumes. This was some few minutes before the deputy president paid a visit to Kenol.

He was buried at his village in Gacharage, Kigumo sub-county in Murang’a County. However, neither the deputy president nor the surrounding leaders attended the burial. The bishop had hosted the deputy president together with other leaders on 4th  October 2020. The Murang’a event was marked with chaotic events putting the police at loggerheads with those who attended it.

The heavy commotions saw the police lobber teargas cannisters in a bid to disperse the meeting. As a result, one person lost his life in the melee with several others getting injured.

On the fateful day, the supporters of Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke factions clashed with youths engaging one another in running battles. On their side, leaders allied to the deputy president threw blames to the government for the chaos. According to them, the violence was state sponsored although they did not issue evidence to back their claim.

The government on the other hand blamed the organizers of the event for the chaos and promised to investigate the same. However, no meaningful report on that has been given by the investigating authorities until today.
